Why do oblique piles exist?

Why do oblique piles exist? With the fast development of construction, more and more space structure buildings are needed in modern society.

Foundations bear too much horizontal thrust in these kinds of structure buildings. In addition, the foundations produce more uplift forces while bearing the wind loads.

It is hard for vertical piles to counteract strong horizontal load and uplift load directly. Under the same external load, the oblique piles can bear stronger horizontal and uplift forces than vertical piles.

Research says 3D space systems created by oblique piles are similar to tree roots.

Which can unload horizontal thrust and strengthen external forces resistance. Thus oblique piles are widely used in structure buildings and sea-crossing bridges.
