Description

The steel strand is made of multiple carbon steel wires twisted in a spiral shape on a stranding machine, and made by low-temperature tempering to eliminate stress. The whole steel strand has a large breaking force, good flexibility and convenient construction. It is currently the most widely used pre-stressed steel strand.

Steel strands can be divided into smooth steel strands, galvanized steel strands, monofilament epoxy coated steel strands, filled steel strands, unbonded steel strands (smooth, monofilament, galvanized), etc.

Details

1.Smooth steel strand

 

Commonly used smooth steel strands are made by twisting 7 steel wires with a diameter of 15.2mm (American Standard 15.24mm) and a standard tensile strength of 1860MPa.

 

2.Filled epoxy steel stranded wire

 

The outer layer is coated with a melt-bonded epoxy coating, and the gaps between the steel wires are completely filled with the melt-bonded epoxy coating, thus preventing the seven-wire steel strand from being corroded by capillary force or other hydrostatic forces.

 

3. Sand embedded epoxy steel strand

 

Sand-embedded epoxy-coated steel strands are a type of filled epoxy-coated steel strands. The surface of the epoxy-coated steel is embedded with sand particles, which are used to enhance the adhesion and grip of concrete and cement slurry In the internal pre-stressing, rock-soil anchoring and suspension bridge anchorage project.

 

4. Monofilament coated epoxy steel strand

 

Using high-pressure electrostatic spraying method, the epoxy resin powder is sprayed on the steel strand, and then heated and melted, solidified, and cooled to form a dense epoxy coating film on the surface of the steel wire.

 

5.Galvanized steel strand

 

The surface of the steel wire is galvanized to form cathodic protection, and then the galvanized steel wire is twisted to make a steel strand. As an active metal, zinc can protect the inner metal by consuming itself in a corrosive environment. Therefore, galvanized steel strands have superior corrosion resistance.

 

6.Unbonded steel strand

 

Apply antiseptic wax oil on the surface of the steel strand, and then covered by PE. Mainly used for unbonded prestressed tendons in the post-tensioning method. It can also be used for extracorporeal cables in exposed or corrosive environments. According to the different inner steel strands, it can be divided into ordinary unbonded steel strands, unbonded monofilament epoxy steel strands, and unbonded galvanized steel strands.

II.Excellent corrosion resistance

  1. The steel wire gaps between the steel strands are completely filled with epoxy resin to prevent the corrosive medium from entering the steel strands through capillary action.
  2. The epoxy resin coating on the surface of the steel strand has sufficient thickness and strict quality control to ensure that there is no pinhole in the entire length of the steel strand.
  3. Special epoxy resin with high strength and high toughness, to ensure that the epoxy resin can extend synchronously with the steel strand body during tension, and the coating has no pinholes or cracks after tension.

 

 

Monofilament coated epoxy steel strand:

 

  1. Remove fretting wear fatigue between steel wires.
  2. High anti-corrosion performance.
  3. PE damage can also be independently protected against corrosion.
